21st Century English

Let's face it, education is changing each day and as educators it is important to adapt and stay relevant to our surroundings and students.  In this article, Shelley Wright offers some fantastic ideas on a modern day English class!  We all know that our middle and high school students are going to be active on social media, so why not interact with this type of technology in an educational way?  Shelley Wright uses Facebook to create a fundraising page in connection with the current novel in class.  I have also heard of teachers creating private class Facebook pages for after school homework help and/or post lesson ideas and discussions.  Do you think implementing Facebook, Twitter, etc. is beneficial in the classroom or should it only be of personal use?

Some fun ideas which are a little on the dorky side when I picture a teacher doing them... but there's potential here!:
